WPD National Night Out Tuesday: Food, Fun, Fireworks

Warwick, RI – The Warwick Police Department’s National Night Out returns Tuesday, Aug. 1, 3 p.m. at Rocky Point Park food, fire spinners, mermaids, witches, wagon rides and a petting zoo, among its many attractions.

The event, designed to bring law enforcement together with members of the community, especially children, is free.

Attendees will also be treated to Warwick Police K-9 demonstrations, police vehicles, karate demonstrations, neighborhood groups, child-friendly activities, Miss Rhode Island and Miss Teen Rhode Island, and an opening ceremony featuring the Warwick Police Honor Guard, according to Warwick Police.

During the event families will get to visit with K-9 Charley, see SWAT demos, the Warwick Fire Department jaws of life demo, and take pictures with officers and police vehicles. There will also be more than 100 Arts & Crafts Vendors,  Vintage Police Cars, and more. Vendors will include We Be Jammin’ RI, Police Athletic League, and more than 30 food trucks organized by Ocean State Food Truck Festivals.

The event is sponsored by the Warwick Police Department, We Be Jammin’, City of Warwick, Police Athletic League, and Warwick Police Department Citizens Police Academy alumni.

Bot the parking and admission are free.

National Night Out is the creation of the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), intended to bring attention to local anti-crime programs, strengthen the relationship among and between community groups and law enforcement, foster a sense of community and bring attention to anti-drug and crime prevention efforts.

More than 36 million people across the country participated in last year’s National Night Out event, according to NATW.
