WARWICK, RI – Warwick Police have identified Shannon Godbout, 34, of Hope Valley, RI as the woman responsible for the March 18 robbery at the Post Road Sunoco Station, as well as a shoplifting at the Mobil Gas Station on Jefferson Blvd Feb. 11.
In both cases, Â Godbout was operating a different vehicle stolen from within the City.
In the most recent case, Â she entered the Post Road Sunoco gas station at 2:49 a.m., insinuated she had a weapon and demanded money. She fled the store with $138 obtained from the clerk in a confirmed stolen car.
On Feb. 11, at 3 a.m., she entered the Mobil Gas station on Jefferson Blvd, stole a carton of cigarettes and fled the scene in a different stolen vehicle which was later recovered unoccupied in Cranston.
On Monday, Godbout was stopped in the stolen vehicle in Providence and arrested on outstanding warrants from Warwick Police regarding the Mobil shoplifting. She was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of her arrest.
Godbout was turned over to Warwick Detectives and was transported to WPD Headquarters, 99 Veterans Memorial Drive.
Godbout was interviewed by detectives and was subsequently charged with the following charges:
Sunoco Gas Station Incident 3/18/18
1. One count of 2nd Degree Robbery (Felony)
2. One count of Driving Without Consent (Felony)
Mobil Gas Station Incident 2/11/18
1. One count of Felony shoplifting
2. One count of driving without consent (Felony)
This single arrest resulted in the filing of four felony charges resulting from two separate investigations. Godbout was transported to Kent County courthouse this morning where she will be arraigned on the listed charges.
