WPD: Driver Struck Two Tommy’s Clam Shack Patrons

UPDATE – JULY 17, 1 P.M.:  Warwick Police report the 66-year-old woman struck by a driver July 15 at Tommy’s Clam Shack has died from her injuries.

Police have also identified the woman, Susan Hjerpe, and her husband, Carl Hjerpe. Carl remains in stable condition at Rhode Island Hospital, according to Warwick Police.

The Warwick Police Accident Reconstruction Team is still actively investigating the motor vehicle accident.

WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police are investigating a the injury of two patrons at Tommy’s Clam Shack, 2247 Warwick Ave., today at 2:03 p.m. when a vehicle struck them as they sat at an outside table.

Warwick Police arrived at the parking lot of the restaurant, learning that a woman was driving through the parking lot and mistakenly hit the accelerator, driving toward and striking the two patrons.

One woman was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with life-threatening injuries. A man was also transported to
Rhode Island Hospital and is in stable condition.

The Warwick Police Accident Reconstruction team is currently on scene conducting an investigation.
