WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police have announced their arrest of a suspect in a string of restaurant burglaries between Jan. 13 and 17 after he was stopped for driving an unregistered car Feb.1.

George Andrews, 52, of Warwick also had a suspended license. Following a collaborative effort by the WPD’s Patrol Division and Detective Division, Andrews was taken into custody, questioned by detectives, and several search warrants were executed.

Following that investigation, Andrews was transported to Third Division District Court for arraignment on 5 counts of breaking and entering and 1 count of operating on a suspended license.

Andrews is suspected of burglaries at Demo’s Pizza on Warwick Avenue, Gel’s Kitchen on West Shore Road, PB&J’s restaurant and Sunnyside on West Shore Road, and California Taco Shop on Elmwood Avenue.

“Last night our restaurant was broken into and robbed. Luckily, it was just our cash register with change inside. The suspect involved was caught on our surveillance system and police have been investigating,” Demos wrote on their Facebook page Jan. 17.
