WARWICK, RI — On June 2, Warwick Police stopped a silver 2000 Toyota with the wrong plates, arresting the driver, who was wanted in Providence for driving with an expired license, un-renewed since 2015.
Officer Nathaniel Gray spotted the car at 12:19 p.m. while driving south on Bald Hill Road, noticing an illegal back plate bracket, and checked the plate, which was actually registered to a blue 2007 Toyota. The silver car turned into the Rhode Island Mall lot at 650 Bald Hill Road, and stopped in front of Burlington Coat Factory, according to Gray’s report. Gray turned on his lights to make a traffic stop, and got out of his cruiser.
The woman driving the silver Toyota also got out, and Gray ordered her to stay in her car. Officer Andrew Distlehurst arrived to assist, according to Gray’s report. At that point, he asked the woman, identified as Kidian Naidik Reynoso, of 61 Cross St., Westerly, RI, to get out of her car. During a check of her identity, he learned of the Providence Police warrant for her arrest for driving without a license, fourth offense and also learned her license was currently expired, and had been since Sept. 14, 2014.
Reynoso’s mother also arrived at the stop. Gray handcuffed Reynoso and placed her in his cruiser, then called for a tow of the Toyota by West Shore Collision. Reynoso informed Gray that there was a taser and a set of brass knuckles in a vest in her trunk, which she had confiscated from people while performing her job. Gray located the items and secured them at Warwick Police Headquarters, 99 Veterans Memorial Drive, Warwick.
Gray charged Reynoso with Driving Without a License, and cited her for improper display of plates and improper registration. She was scheduled for an arraignment on the charge June 22, but failed to appear.
A bench warrant for her arrest was issued June 22, with a $2,000 surety bond.
