Warwick, RI – Warwick Firefighters were called to a house fire at 11 Irma Ave. at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday that started in a mulch pile in front of the home, extinguishing it at about 5:15 p.m.

Assistant Fire Chief Bruce Cooley said fire crews were at the scene within minutes of the call, and had it out within 45 minutes of work.

Dooley said the fire began in a mulch pile in front of the house, extending to the exterior siding of the house, causing minimal damage. Fire crews had to knock down part of an interior wall to check for a possible spread of the fire within the wall, but no spreading fire was found,  Cooley said.

Cooley said the fire was deemed accidental.
