West Warwick Man Turns Himself in for April 16 Felony Assault at Grid Iron

WARWICK, RI — A West Warwick man turned himself in at Warwick Police headquarters April 27 at 9:50 a.m. after learning of a warrant for his arrest on a charge of felony assault with a dangerous weapon at the Grid Iron bar April 15.

According to a Warwick Police report, Brian Lee Savage, 26, of 690 Providence St., West Warwick, RI, threw a bar stool at a 30-year-old Warwick man while at the bar April 16.

According to the report, Savage began a written statement in which he admitted to throwing a bar stool at another man in the bar near him who had started throwing chairs. Savage said he hadn’t intended to strike the other man, only keep him away from him an his group of friends.

Detective Jeffery Viveiros arrested Savage on the charge. He was scheduled for a date in Third District Court on May 22.
