Weather Service Issues Gale Warning for RI

Warwick, RI — The National Weather Service has issued a gale warning in effect for seas near Warwick and the rest of the state today, from now until 1 p.m. this afternoon.

The weather service warns vessels at sea of winds at 15 to 20 knots (at 17 to 23 mph with gusts of up to 40 mph) with gusts of up to 35 knots and seas at three feet.

“Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly recommended that mariners without the proper experience or equipment,” the weather service warns. “Seek safe harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.”
