WARWICK, RI — Warwick Weekend events include the Rolling, Strolling Apponaug Winter Festival and a holiday market Saturday coinciding with crisp, clear weather.
Warwick Weekend weather is forecast in the low 20s – 40s with clear and sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service. Here are some events and happenings to help you decide where you’re spending the good weather, then where you’re keeping dry:
Warwick Weekend Events Friday:
Bring your own Improv This interactive improv show at the Warwick Center for the Arts welcomes voluntary audience participation! You can participate in one of three ways: applaud for a scene you like, yell out fantastic suggestions, or if you feel you’re ready, jump up and get involved with us on stage.
Conimicut Village Christmas From 5 to 8 p.m., visit the center of Conimcut Village for Santa and Mrs. Clause, food, music, activities and a surprise for attendees.
Warwick Tree Lighting The fun goes from 6:15 until 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 at Thayer Arena, 975 Sandy Lane. This family-friendly event has been a community favorite for years and offers something for everyone looking to get into the holiday spirit! The event boasts costumed characters, an ice carving demo, Girl Scout carolers, a skating performance and photos with Santa. Food trucks, Kids crafts, hot chocolate and donuts will also be availalble.
WCFA Winter Market holiday shopping has another local venue at the Warwick Center for the Arts, 3259 Post Road, continuing its three-week Winter Market showcase of artistic gifts of every stripe. During the market, affordably priced works adorn the gallery, complemented by tables of assorted artistic creations. Those items run the gamut, including mosaics, wooden bowls, jewelry, and succulent arrangements.
The market is open during WCFA hours, 11 a.m. till 3 p.m., Wednesday Through Saturday. Extended open hours include Fridays from 3 to 6 pm. The Winter Market is presented as an opportunity for artists and shoppers to connect in a festive way this holiday season, according to the WCFA. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Coventry Tree lighting From 6-7 p.m. at Guy L. Lefebvre Community Center, 1277 Main St., Santa will arrive with the help of our Fire District to drop the jolly guy off to help light our main Christmas tree. We also have eight trees which will be decorated by the graduating class of each of our Coventry schools, one school tree will be announced as most creative that evening. There will be a ‘Letters to Santa’ station for children to create and write their wish list for Santa. All letters will be delivered to Santa at our Winter Wonderland event on Saturday, December 2. Lemon Lane Lemonade food truck will be selling delicious hot beverages and lemonade. Come out to enjoy music by our local ASFMS school choir and help spread the community holiday cheer!

Apponaug Winter Festival Running 9 a.m. till 3 p.m., the debut Apponaug Winter Festival features a paraded, vendors, food trucks, live music, horse and carriage rides, balloon art, face painting, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, caroling, bell ringers, a DJ, and a scavenger hunt. ARIA Author Expo The Association of Rhode Island Authors (ARIA) is hosting its 12th Annual Author Expo Dec 7 at Crowne Plaza, Warwick, RI from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. Admission & Parking are free. Browse among hundreds of your favorite authors showcasing series and new releases in hardcover and paperback. The event also features raffles, speakers, Santa, and Writing Panels, covering topics including book banning, author world building and using Rhode Island as your setting in a horror story. The Expo’s list of exhibiting authors boasts great writers from every genre, including Best-selling thriller novelist and Rhode Islander Jon Land, Christa Carmen, author of Bram Stoker Award-winning “The Daughters of Block Island”, and Steve Porter, owner of Stillwater Books and author of Manisses.
