Warwick Weekend Events: Trout, Comedy, Steak Fry, River Cleanup

WARWICK, RI — It’s an action-packed roundup of Warwick weekend events including Trout season opening day,  comedy, a steak fry, and a cleanup of the Pawtuxet River.

Warwick Weekend weather will start with heavy rain Friday, cloudy with a 20% chance of rain Saturday, followed  by a sunny Sunday with temperatures in the high 50s and 60s, according to the National Weather Service.

Warwick Weekend Events Friday:

Norwood branch Library Building Club: Join other kids to create with Legos and Manga-tiles every Friday afternoon at the Norwood Branch.

WCFA Spring Jury Exhibit WCFA’s exhibit, running through April 13, ‘TALKIN’ TRASH,’ features Art created with items rescued from the landfill. The exhibit is juried by Beverly Silva. The gallery is open from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. every Wednesday through Saturday. There is no charge for admission.

Thayer Arena Public Skate: Through March, Friday and Sunday, Public Skate is open to skaters of all ages. Cost to Skate is $5 – Children 5 and under are free. Skate Rentals are available at Sandy Lane Sports across the street from the rink.

  • Fridays 3:15-5:15 p.m.

Children 12 years and younger must be accompanied and supervised by a guardian who is 18 years or older. Children ages 13-17 without an adult staying onsite must be paid for and signed in by an adult that can leave emergency contact information. Only persons wearing skates are permitted on the ice surface. Helmets are strongly recommended for all skaters.

Non-Essential Comedy, NYLO hotel Experience an evening of Non-Essential Comedy at NYLO Providence/Warwick, 400 Knight St., 7 p.m., featuring some of the most sought-after talents in the New England area. Rhode Island Comedian & Military Veteran Jay Are Adams will headline. Jay was handpicked by Kevin Hart to be on Comedy Central’s “Kevin Hart presents Hart of the City.” In his act, Jay Are describes being raised by a single mother, his time in the Navy, terrible karaoke bars & dating as a single father.

Warwick Weekend Events Saturday:

Trout Season Opens  Trout season opens today, and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) has stocked more than 100 freshwater spots, including children’s-only ponds, with 60,000 fish. This year, Gorton Pond in Warwick will be stocked for the first time. A complete list of stocked waters can be found here. Fish stocked include brook, brown, rainbow, and golden rainbow trout, according to the DEM.

Pawtuxet River Cleanup With the recent flooding of the Pawtuxet River, there is a lot of garbage on the river banks! Please join us in partnership with the Pawtuxet Green Revival on SATURDAY APRIL 13th for the ANNUAL PAWTUXET RIVER CLEAN UP. 9 a.m.-12:00 p.m.. Meet at the former DEM Supply Depot on the east side of Warwick Avenue in Cranston, across from Stop N Shop, just before the bridge. This site is across the river from Shaws. The winter floods scattered debris all through the woods. We will have trash grabbers, buckets and gloves (or you may bring longer thick gloves). But please bring a reusable water bottle. Oakland Beach Fire Barn Steak Fry Join the members of the Oakland Beach Fire Barn, 645 Oakland Beach Ave., Saturday at 5:30 p.m. for a steak fry with entertainment by Robert Black. Doors open at 5 p.m. You must have a ticket to enter the event. Tickets can be purchased at the barn daily 12 p.m. till closing. Cash only.

Warwick Weekend Events Sunday:
