Editor’s note: Monday’s post on Warwick runners mis-reported the number of local athletes in the annual footrace. Results from additional Marathoners have been added to the report.
Boston, MA – Warwick’s nine runners in the 119th Boston Marathon Monday braved cool temperatures exacerbated by wind and the threat of hypothermia.
In all, the city’s runners joined a field of about 30,000 athletes along the 26.2 mile course starting in Hopkinton, MA and ending in downtown Boston.
Along the way, runners experience the thrill of the Wellesley College Scream Tunnel, and the agony of Heartbreak Hill.
At the end, the triumph of completing the grueling athletic feat awaited them, as did massage tables, refreshments and friends and families.
