Warwick Public Library Celebrates 50 Years of Service

Warwick, RI – The main branch of Warwick Public Library, 600 Sandy Lane, hosted a 50th anniversary for the library Saturday, with refreshments and a variety of family-friendly events.

Attractions included The Cat in the Hat, classic 1965 cars, a vintage fire truck and sea shanties. Mayor Scott Avedisian also gave a brief speech congratulating the library staff and trustees on their long service to the city.

“It’s the easiest part of the budget process, going before the council and talking about the library and all its great programs,” Avedesian said.

Warwick City Council members Thomas Chadronet, Camille Vella-Wilkinson, and Donna Travis attended, as did former Mayor Joseph Walsh [mayor from ’77 to ’84].
