Warwick, RI — The Warwick Police Department identified the pedestrian injured in a weekend accident as 44-year-old Charles Hawkins, of 99 Dryden Blvd.

Lt. Michael Gilbert issued a statement on Tuesday afternoon explaining that Hawkins remains at Rhode Island Hospital “in critical condition with serious injuries.”

According to police reports, the car driven by Katelyn Barnes, 23, struck Hawkins as he crossed Post Road near Walmart just before 9 p.m. on Saturday night, Oct. 11.

Police said Hawkins was dressed in dark clothing, and that poor light conditions “may have contributed to the accident.”

Gilbert again ruled out speed or alcohol as factors in Tuesday’s press release, and said the department’s accident reconstruction team is continuing its investigation.

Warwick Police continue to seek any information related to the accident, and ask witnesses to contact the Traffic Division at (401)468-4293 or (401)468-4343.
