WARWICK, RI — The Warwick City Council meets tonight at City Hall, to consider a number of resolutions, including adding salary and overtime line items to the annual budget, expedited expenditure reporting, and renewing the list of vendors solicited for bids.
The council’s subcommittees, including the Finance Committee, begin meeting at 5 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 3275 Post Road Warwick, RI. After, the full council meets at 7 p.m.
- Councilman Steve Merolla and Ed Ladouceur have lamented the lack of bidding contractors for the city’s bids on several occasions. With PCR 8-17, sponsored by both councilmen, the city will “generate as many responses as possible to requests for bids and RFPs by updating the lists of vendors to make sure that vendors on them are interested in bidding and that the lists are purged of vendors that are no longer in business or no longer interested in bidding on city contracts.
- According to the city’s bylaw, “chapter 56 – purchasing,”  contracts costing between $1,000 and not $2,50, the purchasing agent must submit a report on the spending within 10 days. Resolution PCO 15-17, sponsored by Merolla, Ladoucer, Jeremy Rix, Stephen McCallister, Joseph Gallucci, and Timothy Howe, would require those reports within 24 hours.
- PCO 17-17, sponsored by the entire City Council, would require separate line items in the annual city budget for salaries,
overtime, sick pay, vacation pay and  holiday pay.
