Upcoming Warwick Events: May 15 through 22

Looking for something to do this weekend in Warwick?

We’ve got a handy list of upcoming events in the city, including an exhibit at an historic Victorian mansion, improv, a farmer’s market, and a look at American music.

May 15, 2014:

A Household of Women, 1 p.m.

If you haven’t visited Clouds Hill Victorian House Museum, 4157 Post Road, now is the time. The Museum just opened a new exhibit honoring the four generations of women who have owned Clouds Hill since 1877.

Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $8 for college students [with ID] and $5 for children.

From Music Halls to Pop, 7 p.m.

Warwick Public Library hosts Lloyd Kaplan, Professor Emeritus of Music at CCRI and a URI instructor at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, for a discussion of musical evolution from theatrical performances to jazz and pop. Free.

May 16, 2014:

42nd Street, 7:30 p.m.

Be sure to catch one of the final performances in Ocean State Theatre Company’s run of 42nd Street with a 7 p.m. Friday night performance, followed by two shows on Saturday and final curtain call at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets $39, $49, and $59. Available online at Ocean State Theatre Company website.

Improv Night, 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Bring Your Own Improv returns to WMOA, starting at 7 p.m. with Family-Friendly [PG-rated] performances and continuing at 9 p.m. with Adult-Themes [R-rated] acts. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for kids under 13 and seniors. More information and tickets sales at bringyourownimprov.com

May 17, 2014:

Farmer’s Market, 9 a.m.

Time to shop local and support Rhode Island farmers and businesses by heading to Rhodes on the Pawtuxet for the Pawtuxet Village Farmer’s Market.

Featured vendors include Pak Express, PV Farmstand, Bernie B’s Honey, LeFavorite Bakery, Blue Skys Farm, The Local Catch, Beltane Farm, and gC Farms.

Credit, debit, EBT/SNAP, WIC and Senior Coupons accepted.

Looking ahead a bit, the Gaspee Days Arts & Crafts Festival kicks off on May 24 at 10 a.m., with the annual Block Party set at 6 p.m. Saturday night. The event continues through Memorial Day, May 26.
