Two Die in Rte. 4 Crash Saturday Morning

WARWICK, RI — RI State Police report a Wakefield woman and South Kingstown man were killed early Saturday morning when the care they were riding in drove off the road and into a tree on Rte. 4 North near the merge with Interstate 95 in Warwick.

Colonel Ann C. Assumpico, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Director of the Rhode Island Department of Public Safety, reported mma Brown, 21, of 17 Bethany Road, Wakefield, and Lorenzo Smith, 33, 576 Fort Road, South Kingstown, were pronounced dead at the scene of the single-car crash.

The driver and a third passenger in the vehicle were transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Warwick Fire Department and East Greenwich Fire responded to the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by troopers from the State Police Wickford Barracks and the Collision Reconstruction Unit.
