Two Arrested in Conimicut Variety Store Stabbing Monday

WARWICK, RI — Warwick police have charged an 18-year-old Warwick woman and a 21-year-old Warwick man in the stabbing of a 20-year-old man Monday night at Conimiuct Variety Store, 695 West Shore Road that sent the victim to Rhode Island Hospital with stab wounds to his neck and head.

When officers were called to the store, they found the victim suffering from multiple stabbing wounds, and called for his transport to the hospital, according to a Warwick Police report.

The suspects, identified by witnesses at the scene as a couple who had been with an infant in a baby stroller and had fled the scene on foot. The victim had been known by both suspects, according to the report. Officers identified the suspects with the help of a witness, finding the two at their home on Hawley Avenue.

Police arrested Kristian Orlando Fonseca, 21, from Hawley Avenue, Warwick, charging him with Assault with the Intent to Commit a Felony (Murder), Violation of a No Contact Order and an outstanding warrant (for Violation of a No Contact Order and Domestic Malicious Damage).

Officers also arrested Jasmine Brown, 18, from Hawley Ave., Warwick, RI, charging her with Aiding and Abetting (felony) and Simple Assault and Battery.

Police also discovered Brown had an active No Contact Order against Fonseca based on a previous Domestic Violence Crime committed against her by Fonseca.

Brown was arraigned at Warwick Police headquarters and was released on surety bail. Fonseca was held overnight and arraigned on Feb. 6 at 3rd Division District Court.
