UPDATE – 2 p.m.: State Police report a detour from the Airport Connector west to Rte. 95 North will remain in place through early evening following this morning’s tractor-trailer crash.
State Police also report they are investigating the crash, which they were called to at about 9:55 a.m. The State Police Commercial Enforcement Unit, Department of Environmental Management, and Warwick Fire Department were also called to the scene at that time, according to the report.
“The tractor-trailer rolled over and struck the guardrail along the ramp, rupturing one of the fuel tanks. The tractor-trailer was carrying 43,000 pounds of solar panels that will have to be offloaded before the vehicle can be righted and towed,” State Police said in their statement about the crash.
ORIGINAL STORY: WARWICK, RI — A crash resulting in a truck rollover at about 10 a.m. has closed the right lane of the west Airport Connector at Rte. 95 south.
RIDOT and Warwick Police alerted motorists of the crash on twitter and Facebook respectively, and the WPD advised people to seek alternate routes.
WPRI News reported from the scene that bystanders attempted to free the truck driver.
