Troop 49 Lakewood Honors Eight New Eagle Scouts

Editor’s note: Lincoln Smith, occasional contributor to the Warwick Post, recently attended the Eagle Court of Honor at Lakewood Baptist Church, where his late father was pastor for many years. He’s shared his photos and brief write-up of the event below:

Warwick, RI – Troop 49 Lakewood held an Eagle Court of Honor June 27 at Lakewood Baptist Church, during which eight boys advanced to the rank of Eagle Scout.

The troop was started in the 1970s by Rev. Lincoln Smith and some of the men in the church.  The number 49 was given to the troop because Rev. Smith was the Chaplain of the Warwick Fire Department and he was CAR 49.

Over the years, the troop has had more than thirty Eagle Scouts.  It is a very active troop and they do a lot of camping on the weekends.
