Thundermist Welcomes Dr. Harrison in West Warwick

[CREDIT: Thundermist Health Center] Thundermist announced hiring a new family medicine physician, Dr. Emily Harrison, this week.

WEST WARWICK, RI—  Dr. Emily Harrison joins Warwick-based Thundermist Health Center as a family medicine physician at the West Warwick office, 186 Providence St.

Harrison’s clinical expertise includeS women’s health and family medicine. She is fluent in Spanish and has spent most of her career working in the Latino community.

Harrison previously served as the medical director of the family medicine practice at Care New England Medical Group Women’s Care. She served as medical staff president at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island and on Care New England’s Board of Directors.

“Dr. Harrison brings vast knowledge and clinical expertise to serve our diverse patient population,” said Jeanne LaChance, president/CEO, Thundermist Health Center. “We are excited to welcome her to the Thundermist team.”

“I chose to work at Thundermist because of its mission to provide the best health care possible to an underserved population while removing as many barriers to health care as possible,” said Dr. Harrison. “I love the fact that Rhode Island is a small community. I also like practicing medicine in the community where I trained.”

Harrison received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. She completed her residency program at Brown University Family Medicine Residency and completed a fellowship in Maternal Child Health. She has a Master of Public Health degree from Brown University and received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University.

Harrison volunteers for Shoulder to Shoulder in Intibucá, Honduras. She served in a variety of positions including director of women’s health and executive director, making multiple trips a year to southwestern Honduras. Currently, she works with a team in the small village of Guachipilincito, where they provide chronic disease management, well child-care, supplemental nutrition, and scholarships for secondary education.
