WARWICK, RI — Thanksgiving Warwick Weekend  events include football, the Turkey Trot, Small Business Saturday and art shopping, with sunny  temps dropping from the mid to low 40s.

Warwick Weekend weather begins sunny and clear at 46 degrees Thanksgiving Day, with a chilly dip to 43 Friday, then another drop to 41 Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Here are some events and happenings coinciding with that weather:

Warwick Weekend Wednesday:

Rock Painting, Warwick Public Library At Warwick Public Library, Apponaug Branch, 3267 Post Road, from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., indulge in Rock Painting for adults and kids ages 4 and older. Express yourself through art and paint some rocks.

Frankie & Johnny in the Clair de Lune at The Gamm Theatre on Wednesday, Nov. 26, and continues through Nov. 30. Follow the title link for Warwick Post’s Joe Siegel’s  review of this production.

Warwick Weekend Thursday:

Toll Gate vs. Pilgrim football The eighth matchup in the Warwick varsity football Thanksgiving Day series between Toll Gate and Pilgrim kicks off at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Warwick Vets Middle School.

Rotary Turkey Trot 5K  The Warwick Rotary Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot  starts at 8 a.m. – Race Day Registrations begin at 7:15 a.m. at the Warwick City Park Ball Fields, Steven O’Connor Blvd, Warwick, RI 02886

Run/Walk starts at 8 a.m. This year the run will benefit the Warwick Rotary Charity Fund

Each succeeding year since its 2014 inception has seen the Trot grow in scope. Boy Scouts from local troops have joined with several dozen Rotarians to set-up, do registration, monitor parking and traffic and to monitor runners and walkers throughout the Park. A creative costume competition was added in the second year. Best dressed participant, best dressed family and most creative participants have added to the spirit of the event. Attendance has grown to number in the hundreds and proceeds of thousands of dollars have been donated to local charitable groups.

Warwick Weekend Friday:

Bring your own Improv This interactive improv show at the Warwick Center for the Arts welcomes voluntary audience participation! You can participate in one of three ways: applaud for a scene you like, yell out fantastic suggestions, or if you feel you’re ready, jump up and get involved with us on stage.

Buy Nothing Day Coat Drive  Buy Nothing Day, an annual clothing swap that highlights “how consumerism is a dead end,” according to Prosperity for RI. We can make an impact by keeping our community safe, warm, and dry. Putting a coat in a donation bin may not seem like a heavy lift, but it could be life-saving for someone down the line. Small acts yield big results.

Ocean State Artisans Holiday Craft Show The 32nd Ocean State Artisans Craft Show will be blooming with the perfect #holidaygifts for everyone on your List, with three days of  shopping from (9-5pm) on #blackfriday
and #smallbusinessSaturday, then 10-4 p.m. Sunday. This year the event is held at The Twin River Event Center, 100 Twin River Road, Lincoln, RI.
Tickets are $3  or $2 with a canned/non-perishable food item, for the food drive. “We are aiming to increase our support of the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.

 

Warwick Weekend Saturday:

Shop small: Small Business Saturday Small businesses from across the state get a holiday shopping boost Saturday as shoppers browse a cross-section of small RI businesses in one convenient spot during the Shop RI Small Business Saturday at Crowne Plaza Warwick, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Warwick Weekend Sunday:

WCFA Winter Market holiday shopping season sees another local staple Sunday with an Opening Day Reception from 12-5 p.m. as the  Warwick Center for the Arts, 3259 Post Road, begins its three-week Winter Market showcase of artistic gifts of every stripe.  During the market, affordably priced works adorn the gallery, complemented by tables of assorted artistic creations. Those items run the gamut, including mosaics, wooden bowls, jewelry, and succulent arrangements.

Holiman Winter Bazaar Sunday, visit the Holiman Winter Bazaar at Pilgrim High School, 11 a.m. till 3 p.m. Every year this event gets bigger and bigger! More vendors, more shoppers, more fun! We are so excited!
