LINCOLN, RI — On Monday, Jan. 16, 5:30 p.m., the State Police, North Kingstown Police and South Kingstown Police arrested three New York men for numerous larcenies in Smithfield, Lincoln, and Central Falls.
One of the men was wanted by Warwick Police for receiving stolen property.
Initially, the Smithfield Police Department broadcasted a “Be On the Lookout (BOLO),” at 4:30 p.m. for a vehicle involved in a larceny of iPhones and Apple watches from a T-Mobile store in their town. At 5 p.m., the Central Falls Police Department broadcasted a BOLO for the same vehicle involved in another larceny of iPhones and Apple watches from a T-Mobile store in Central Falls.
At 5:15 p.m., a trooper saw the suspects’ vehicle on Rte. 95 south and followed it onto Rte. 4. The vehicle exited onto Rte. 102 North and turned onto South Road in Exeter, where several troopers attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspects’ vehicle then crashed after a brief pursuit and the three occupants fled on foot into a wooded area near the Veteran’s Cemetery.
Members of the State Police, North Kingstown Police, and the South Kingstown Police Department set up a perimeter around this wooded area and began to search for the suspects. The three suspects surrendered a short time later upon the approach of two State Police K9 Units.
The suspects were identified and charged as follows:
- Boubakar Toure, 22, of 192 Broadhurst Ave., Manhattan, NY, for 1) Receiving Stolen Goods over $1500 – Three Counts, 2) Eluding/Reckless Driving, 3) Obstruction of an Officer in Execution of Duty, 4) Affidavit and Arrest Warrant out of the Warwick Police Department for Receiving Stolen Property 5) Fugitive from Justice out of Rockingham Sheriffs Police Department in New Hampshire for Receiving Stolen Property.
- Souleyman Magas, 19, of 2041 5th Ave., NY, for 1) Receiving Stolen Goods over $1,500 – Three Counts, 2) Obstruction of an Officer in Execution of Duty.
- Lacine Cisse, 21, of 202 West 148th St., Apt. 2A, NY, for 1) Receiving Stolen Goods over $1,500 – Three Counts, 2) Obstruction of an Officer in Execution of Duty – Two Counts.
The three were held overnight at State Police Headquarters and arraigned in 4th District Court Tuesday morning. All three were held on $5,000 with surety and Toure was also held as a Fugitive from New Hampshire.
