State Police Arrest 11 for DUI St. Patrick’s Day Weekend

Rhode Island State Police arrested 11 people over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend on DUI charges, including one Warwick resident.

The following DUI arrests were recorded from 5 p.m. Friday night through 6 a.m. today:

Hector Martin Rodriguez Montufar, age 35, of 36 Wendall St., Providence, was arrested at about 3:30 a.m. Monday after troopers received several E-911 calls for a wrong-way driver on Rte. 6 and later on I-295. The vehicle was heading north in the southbound high-speed travel lane on I-295 when it was stopped with the assistance of Smithfield police.

The driver, identified as Montufar, was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor/drugs, first offense, B.A.C of .15 or greater (Phase I: .199 / Phase II: .215).

Charles Gasrow, age 63, of 45 Mount Pleasant View Ave., Cumberland, was arrested at approximately 10:20 p.m. Sunday after troopers received a call for an erratic operator on Interstate 295. They stopped the vehicle after it exited the highway onto Mendon Road in Cumberland.

The operator, identified as Gasrow, was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor/drugs, first offense, B.A.C of .10-.15 (Phase I: .145 / Phase II: .150). He also was issued a citation for laned roadway violations.

Hailey Sousa, 21, of 523 Sharps Lot Road, Swansea, MA, was arrested at approximately 11:40 p.m. Sunday after troopers received several E-911 calls for an erratic operator. Troopers stopped the vehicle on Rte. 6 in Johnston and charged the operator, identified as Sousa, with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, B.A.C. unknown, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test

She also was cited for leaving the lane of travel; laned roadway violations; and turn signal required.

Alexander Lonardo, age 24, of 716 Central Ave., Johnston, was arrested at approximately 2 a.m. Sunday after troopers stopped him for speeding on Interstate 95 South in Warwick.

He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor/drugs, first offense, B.A.C of .08 to .10 (Phase I: 0.099 / Phase II: .102).

He also was issued a citation for speeding.

Aaryn Cardoza, age 28, of 365 Union Ave., Providence, was arrested at approximately 1:45 a.m. Sunday by troopers investigating reports of an erratic operator on Rte. 6 in Johnston. She was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor/drugs, first offense, B.A.C of .10-.15 (Phase I: .141 / Phase II: .142). She also was issued a citation for laned roadway violations.

Jasmine Fortes, age 27, of 45 Fletcher St., Central Falls, was arrested at approximately 12:40 a.m. Sunday after Troopers stopped her for operating erratically on Interstate 95 in Pawtucket. She was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor/drugs, first offense, B.A.C of .15 or greater (Phase I: .177 / Phase II: .175). She also cited for driving after suspension of license, first offense; laned roadway violations; and no seatbelt -operator and no seatbelt – passenger. In addition, she was wanted on a bench warrant from Third Division District Court for failure to appear for a pre-trial conference on a larceny charge originating from the Coventry Police Department.

Francesco Rizzo, age 67, of 3438 Post Road, Warwick, was arrested at approximately 11:10 p.m. Saturday after troopers spotted a car allegedly travelling 105 miles an hour on Interstate 95 South in Providence. The driver, identified as Mr. Rizzo, was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, B.A.C. unknown, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He also was charged with speeding; laned roadway violations; and turn signal required.

Harshal Patel, age 22, of 100 Harbourside Boulevard, Unit #B101, Providence, was arrested at approximately 9:50 p.m. Saturday after troopers stopped his vehicle on I-95 in Cranston for speeding and operating erratically. He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor/drugs, first offense, B.A.C of .10-.15 (Phase I: .153 / Phase II: .146). He also was issued citations for speeding and laned roadway violations.

Justin C. Raymond, age 33, of 2 Hazard St., South Kingstown, was arrested at approximately 9:45 p.m. Saturday after troopers stopped him for not yielding to a marked police car stopped on the side of the road on Route 138 West in North Kingstown.

He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor/drugs, first offense, B.A.C of .10-.15 (Phase I: .138 / Phase II: .139). He also was issued citations for conditions requiring reduced speed – the move-over law; laned roadway violations; presence of alcoholic beverage while operating a motor vehicle; and no seat belt – operator.

Julio Garcia, age 58, of 25 Lincoln Ave., Cranston, was arrested at approximately 2:30 a.m. Saturday after troopers spotted him allegedly operating erratically on Interstate 95 in Cranston. He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, B.A.C. unknown, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He also was cited for turn signal required and laned roadway violations.

Corey Lemay, age 24, of 168 Lake Garden Drive, Cranston, was arrested at approximately 1:40 a.m. Saturday after troopers stopped him for allegedly speeding on Interstate 95 in Warwick, where he was recorded travelling more than 80 miles an hour in a 55 mile-per-hour zone. 

He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, B.A.C. unknown, first offense, and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He also was issued citations for speeding and laned roadway violations.
