Secretary of State Swears in Rep. Jackson

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea swore in Rep. James B. Jackson (D-Dist. 26, West Warwick, Coventry, Warwick) Tuesday as the 2019-20 session of the Rhode Island General Assembly convened.

Jackson was one of 14 new members of the House of Representatives who took the oath of office, which was administered to 74 House members.

Jackson, who is retired, serves as a commissioner on the Rhode Island Fire Safety Code Board of Appeal and Review, a commissioner on the Rhode Island Rehabilitation Code Board and a member of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration hearing board.

A 1968 graduate of Pilgrim High School in Warwick, he earned a degree in economics from the University of Rhode Island in 1986.

Born Nov. 15, 1950, he resides at 224 New London Ave in West Warwick with his wife Georgette A. Jackson. He has two children, Kelly Jackson and Danielle Smith.
