WARWICK — Public and private schools throughout the city are delayed one hour this morning, and a parking ban is in effect until further notice as high winds and snow promised to make motorists’ commute a hazardous one.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather statement warning travelers to give themselves extra time this morning as light to moderate snow was expected to continue with winds of up to 22 mph.

” With cold temperatures, even the light snow is likely to stick on area roadways. An additional coating to as much as 2 more inches of snow are possible until it tapers off. This will make conditions on untreated surfaces slippery through the morning commute. Those traveling this morning are urged to use caution and allow for extra travel time,” the National Weather Service advised.

Throughout Warwick, schools appeared to be taking the advice.
