RI Trooper Log: Traffic Stops Yield Prank Caller, Fraud Arrests

Warwick, RI — Traffic stops accounted for the bulk of this week’s arrests by RI State Police in and affecting the City of Warwick, bringing in a prank caller wanted in Tiverton, a couple wanted for fraud in Warwick and family court scofflaw.

Traffic stop nabs man wanted in Tiverton On Nov. 12 at 10:49 a.m., troopers arrested Jamie Sylvia, 36, of 375 South Second St., New Bedford, Massachusetts for an Affidavit and Arrest Warrant out of Tiverton Police Department for Obscene and Prank Phone Calls.

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Post Road in the City of Warwick. The subject was transported to State Police Wickford Barracks where he was processed and turned over to Tiverton Police Department.

Stop collars man wanted for non-support At 8:40 p.m., troopers arrested Jamie R. Falandys, 26, of 525 Providence St., Warwick, Rhode Island, for a Family Court Reciprocal Body Attachment for Failure to Appear – Non Support.

The arrest was a result of a motor vehicle stop on New London Avenue in West Warwick. Falandys was transported to State Police Wickford Barracks where he was processed then turned over to the Adult Correctional Institution – Men’s Intake Center.

Woman, man wanted on fraud charges arrested on Rte. 4 On Nov. 19 at 9:14 p.m., troopers arrested Kayla Rothermel, 21, of 174 Warwick Ave., Cranston, Rhode Island, for 1.) Affidavit Arrest Warrant for Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses; Conspiracy/Fraud originating out of the Warwick Police Department.

Troopers also arrested Michael Rothermel, 33, of 73 Wright Ave., Wakefield during the same stop, charging him with 1.) Affidavit Arrest Warrant for Obtaining Property Under False Pretenses; Conspiracy/Habitual originating out of the Warwick Police Department and 2.) Third District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Pre-Trial on an original charge of Driving Without/Expired License originating out of the Cranston Police Department.

The arrests were a result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 4 in North Kingstown.  Kayla and Michael were transported to the Wickford Barracks where they were processed then released into the custody of Warwick Police Department.
