WARWICK, RI — RI Trooper Log arrests Dec. 9 – Dec. 13 in and surrounding Warwick involved charges for marijuana possession, DUI and a missed court hearing on a shoplifting charge.
Here are the details of those arrests:
Marijuana possession On Dec. 10, 2020, at 3:20 a.m., troopers arrested Jaron Dacruz, 28, of 114 Academy Ave., Providence, RI for: 1. Possession of Marijuana – Greater than one (1) ounce- 1st Offense.
The troopers also arrested Nestor Hawes, 18, of 40 Rye St., Providence, Rhode Island for 1. Possession of Marijuana- Greater than one (1) ounce- 1st Offense.
The arrests were the result of a motor vehicle stop on East Avenue in the City of Warwick. Dacruz and Hawes were transported to State Police Headquarters where he was processed, specially arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released.
Missed court shoplifting charge At 9:25 a.m. Dec. 9, Troopers arrested Morgan Kelley, age 22, of 63 Robert Street, West Warwick, Rhode Island for: 1) 3rd District Court Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Technical Violation on the original charge of Domestic Violence-Disorderly originating out of the West Warwick Police Department. 2) 3rd District Bench Warrant for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on the original charge of Shoplifting originating out of the Coventry Police Department. 3) Two (2) 3rd District Court Bench Warrants for Failure to Appear for Arraignment on the original charge of Shoplifting originating out of the Warwick Police Department.
The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Hartford Avenue in the Town of Johnston. Kelley was transported to State Police Headquarters, processed, and transported to 3rd District Court Pending arraignment.
Rte. 95 stop, DUI charge At 12:10 a.m. Dec. 11, troopers arrested Joyce Botelho, 38, of 188 Clarkson St., Fall River, MA for 1.) Driving Under the Influence of an Intoxicating Liquor and/or Drugs – B.A.C Unknown – 1st Offense, 2.) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test. The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 95 North in the City of Warwick. Botelho was transported to the Scituate Barracks where she was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released into the custody of a responsible adult.
