WARWICK, RI — RI Trooper Log arrests June 13– 16 involved charges for DUI, reckless driving, methadone possession, unlicensed firearm possession and a fugitive from Puerto Rico.
Here are the details of those RI Trooper Log arrests:
Erratic driver reports, DUI arrest At 9:41 a.m. June 16, troopers arrested Godinez Vanegas, 29, of 341 Coe Ave., East Haven, Connecticut for 1.) Driving Under the Influence of Liquor and/or Drugs – First Offense – B.A.C Unknown, 2.) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.
The arrest was the result of the Barracks receiving multiple phone calls for an erratic operator and a subsequent motor vehicle stop on Rte. 95 South in Providence.
Vanegas was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks, processed, transported to Rhode Island Hospital, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released into the custody of a responsible adult.
Rte. 95 crash, DUI At 4:40 p.m. June 16, troopers arrested Arrigo Monteiro, 56, of 186 Transit St., Apt. 1, Providence, Rhode Island for 1.) Driving Under the Influence of Liquor and/or Drugs – First Offense – B.A.C Unknown. 2.) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.
The arrest was the result of troopers investigating a motor vehicle accident on Rte. 95 South in Providence.
Monteiro was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks, processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released into the custody of a responsible adult.
Reckless driving, unlicensed pistol At 7:19 p.m., troopers arrested Celeny Cruz, 25, of 12 Atlantic Ave, Apartment #1, Providence, Rhode Island for 1.) License or Permit Required for Carrying a Pistol and 2.) Reckless Driving.
The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 95 in Warwick. Cruz was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks where she was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and later released.
Illegal Methadone possession At 12 p.m. June 16, troopers arrested Peter Ayala, 41, of 52 Granite St., Westerly, Rhode Island, on an Affidavit Arrest Warrant for the original charge of Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, methadone, from the State Police Wickford Barracks.
The subject turned himself in at the Wickford Barracks and was later arraigned at Third Division District Court.
DUI, Puerto Rico fugitive At 11:15 p.m. June 16, troopers arrested Jose Flores – Velazquez, 31, of F-27 Urb Esmeralda Sur Patillas, Puerto Rico for 1) Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor or Drugs – BAC Unknown – First Offence, 2) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test, 3) Fugitive from Justice from the Territory of Puerto Rico on the charge of Family Offenses.
The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 195 West in Providence. The subject was transported to State Police Headquarters, then processed and held overnight pending morning arraignment at Sixth Division District Court.
