COVENTRY, RI — RI Trooper Log arrests May 25 through June 2 concerning Coventry involved DUI charges stemming from stops on highways and motorist reports, one involving a stolen goods charge, and a mental health crisis involving a man wanted for domestic assault.

DUI, Rte. 95 stop At 1:55 a.m. May 26, troopers arrested Griford Saupin, 45, of 978 Tiogue Ave., Apt. #33, Coventry, Rhode Island, for 1.) Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and/or Drugs– B.A.C. Unknown – First Offense, and 2.) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test – First Offense.
The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 95 South in the Town of West Warwick. Saupin was transported to the State Police Hope Valley Barracks where he was processed and held overnight pending morning arraignment at Third District Court.
Suicidal male report, domestic assault warrant At 1:15 p.m. May 26, troopers arrested James Pavao, 48, of 5 Sand St., Coventry, Rhode Island, for an active Affidavit and Arrest Warrant originating out of the Coventry Police Department on the original charges of 1.) Domestic Simple Assault and 2.) Domestic Vandalism.
The arrest was the result of troopers responding to Beach Pond for a suicidal male in Exeter. The subject was transported to South County Hospital and later turned over to Coventry Police Department.
DUI, stolen goods, suspended license At 12:40 a.m. May 28, troopers arrested Dennisah Marrow, 22, of 33 Douglas St., West Warwick, RI for 1.) Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and/or Drugs – BAC Unknown – 1st Offense, 2.) Receiving Stolen Goods, 3.) Driving with a Suspended License – 4th or Subsequent Offense and 4.) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test.
The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 10, in Providence. Marrow was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks, processed and held overnight pending morning arraignment as a probation violator.
Erratic driver report, DUI On Monday, May 29, at 7 p.m., troopers out of the Hope Valley Barracks arrested Mercedes-Blue Desautel, 31, of 2 Englewood Road, Coventry, Rhode Island, for 1) Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and/or Drugs- B.A.C. Unknown (Blood Results Pending)-1st Offense.
The arrest was the result of an E911 call for an erratic operator and a subsequent motor vehicle stop on New London Turnpike in West Greenwich. Desautel was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks, processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, and released pending a future third district court date.
