RI Trooper Log: Coventry Arrests For Child Molestation, Credit Fraud

WARWICK, RI — RI Trooper Log Coventry arrests and other Kent County arrests  Feb. 21 – March 8 involved charges for child molestation, illegal firearms and credit card fraud.

Here are the basics on those RI State Police arrests:

Coventry stop, firearms charges At 9:31 a.m. Feb. 21, troopers arrested Joseph Belanger, 58, of 1143 Main Ave., Warwick, Rhode Island for 1.) Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons Prohibited, 2.) License or Permit Required for Carrying a Pistol, 3.) Domestic Prevention – Violation of a No Contact Order – 3rd / Subsequent Offense, 4.) Driving with a Suspended/Revoked License – 4th and Subsequent Offense. 

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Washington Street in the Town of Coventry. Belanger was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks, processed, and later transported to Third Division District Court for arraignment. 

Traffic stop, obstruction At 9:31 a.m. Feb. 22, troopers arrested Debra Tereshka, 57, of 680 Washington Street Apartment #1, Coventry, Rhode Island for Obstructing an Officer in Execution of Duty.  The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Washington Street in Coventry. Tereshka was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks, where she was processed and later transferred to Third Division District Court for arraignment.

WG stop, DUI arrest At 12:59 a.m. March 4, troopers arrested Xiomara Tirado, 45, of 80 Cornet Stetson Road, Apt. 2, Scituate, Massachusetts, for 1.) Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and or Drugs – B.A.C. Unknown – First Offense; and 2.) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test. 

The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 in the Town of West Greenwich. The subject was transported to the Wickford Barracks, where she was processed, arraigned by a Justice of Peace, and released to the custody of a responsible adult.

Child molestation On March 7, 2024, members of the Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Richard Antonio, 27, of 38 King Street, Coventry, on an Affidavit and Arrest Warrant drafted by the Barrington Police Department for First-Degree Child Molestation.

Antonio was taken into custody without incident, processed and turned over to members of the Barrington Police Department.

Child molestation On March 7 members of the Special Victims Unit arrested Joseph Oakes, 34, of 1 Allison Avenue, Coventry, Rhode Island, for Three (3) counts of Child Molestation, First Degree.

Oakes was arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men’s Intake Center pending an arraignment in Third District Court.

Credit card fraud On Friday, March 8, at 11:12 a.m., troopers arrested Anthony Bucci, Jr., 40, of 82 Graden Hills Drive, Cranston, Rhode Island, on an affidavit and arrest warrant for the charge of Fraudulent Use of Credit Cards originating out of the Coventry Police Department.

This arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte .37, in the City of Cranston. Bucci was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and later turned over to the Coventry Police Department.
