COVENTRY, RI — Coventry arrests and other Kent County arrests in the RI Trooper Log Aug. 7- 15 involved charges for a prison escape, DUI, and a man wanted in MA for cocaine trafficking.
Here are the basics on those RI State Police Coventry arrests and other Kent County arrests:
ACI escapee On Aug. 7, 2024, members of the ACI Investigations Unit charged Thad E. Carman III, 32, of last known address 2071 New London Turnpike Street, Apartment #1R, Coventry, Rhode Island, with the following: 1) Escape From a Correctional Institution.
According to Depetro.com, Carman left a home confinement appointment at the ACI in June and got in a car that left the facility, violating the terms of his sentence.
Carman was arraigned in Third District Court and released to the custody of the Sheriffs Department.
DUI stop in WG On Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 12:54 a.m., Troopers arrested Julianne Pesaturo, 47, of 10 Woody Hill Road, Exeter, Rhode Island, for 1.) Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and/or Drugs B.A.C Unknown – First Offense, and 2.) Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test. The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 in the Town of West Greenwich.
Pesaturo was transported to the State Police Hope Valley Barracks where she was processed, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace and released into the custody of a responsible adult.
Wanted for Cocaine Trafficking On Aug. 14, members of the RI Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Joao Luis Vieira, 43, of 38 Harris Ave., West Warwick, Rhode Island, on the following: 1) Fugitive from Justice out of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for Cocaine Trafficking; 2) Affidavit and Arrest Warrant for Obstruction out of the West Warwick Police Department; 3) Affidavit and Arrest Warrant for Eluding out of the East Providence Police Department; 4) Superior Court Bench Warrant for an original charge of Manufacturing/ Delivering/ Possession with Intent; and 5) Immigration Violation Warrant / Deportation Detainer from ICE due to being a previously deported Felon. Mr. Vieira was taken into custody without incident and turned over to the West Warwick Police Department.
DUI, Rte. 95 stop At 1 a.m. Aug. 15, troopers arrested James Pavao, 49, of 5 Sand St., Coventry, Rhode Island, for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and/or Drugs – First Offense B.A.C. .15 or Greater (Phase I – % .180 BAC, Phase II – % .174 BAC).
The last item in this week’s Coventry arrests was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Rte. 95 South, in the City of Warwick. Pavao was transported to the State Police – Wickford Barracks where he was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and released into the custody of a responsible adult.
