Warwick, RI – The RIDOT is closing lanes on Post Road this week, starting with the eastbound section today, from West Shore Road to Veterans Memorial Drive, until 4:30 p.m. for pavement removal as the the $29.9 million Apponaug Circulator Project continues.
On Tuesday, the pavement removal will switch to Route 1 (Post Road) West:
- Monday: Rte. 1 East
- Tuesday-Friday: Rte. 1 West
The work will be performed by the RIDOT’s contractor for the project, Cardi Corp.
“Motorists should expect delays and be aware of Flag persons and Traffic persons who are available to assist in accessing driveways and side streets,” notes a release on the City of Warwick Apponaug Bypass web page:
- Cardi Corp. will place the second lift of asphalt on the East side of the roadway, Monday June 15, 2015, at 5 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Cardi Corp. will begin roadway pavement removal, starting at West Shore Road and continuing up Post Road to Post Road Extension. Pavement removal will occur on the West side of Post Road STARTING TUESDAY, JUNE 16, The Two travel lanes on the WEST Side will be closed and will remain closed. Two travel lanes will be open on the EAST Side of Post Road. Therefore, Please Be Advised, Post Road(East) will be restricted to two travel lanes only. Motorists should expect delays. Gravel ramps will be provided to allow for access to All Businesses, Driveways and Sidestreets.
- Two travel lanes will CONTINUE to be closed, and remain closed, on Post Road (East), from West Shore Road to Veterans Memorial Drive.

Warwick: Rte. 1 (Veterans Memorial Dr.) South, from Rte. 1 at Post Rd. Ext. to Rte. 5 (Greenwich Ave.), one lane closed for construction, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The right lane is closed on a short section of the Post Rd. Extension East, beginning at Post Rd., for Apponaug Circulator work. This restriction will remain throughout the duration of the project.
