WARWICK, R.I. — “Stewie”, Warwick Animal Shelter’s Pet of the Week,  is a 5-year-old rugged guy, he was named after Stewie from the show Family Guy because of the shape of his head, but it’s no barrier to his friendliness.

Stewie is a very social boy who really enjoys the company of humans, he doesn’t appreciate the company of other cats or dogs so he needs to be the only fuzzy four footed presence in the house. He will need to be an indoor only cat because he tested positive for FIV so he has a compromised immune system. This doesn’t mean much if he isn’t coming in contact or fighting with other cats but it’s for this reason that he cannot be outside, we don’t want him transmitting it to other cats  (which can happen when they fight) and we don’t want him being exposed to viruses from other cats which he then may become very ill from.

Stewie has been with us for a long time … he “told”  me this morning that even though we’re really nice here and all, it falls a little short of a real home where he can get more attention and more windows to look out of. He is optimistic that his forever home will come through soon, his bags are packed and ready to go. Any interested parties should call the shelter 468-4377 or e-mail [email protected].
