Warwick, RI — Warwick Police closed Centerville Road near Burger King Friday night for about two hours after a pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by a car while crossing the road at about 8:30 p.m.

Neither speed nor drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the crash, said WPD Sgt. John Kelly. The crash remains under investigation by the department’s Accident Reconstruction Team, and the identities of the victim and driver have not yet been released.

Kelly said the pedestrian was crossing Centerville Road to get to the Burger King across the street at 70 Centerville Road when the person was struck by a car traveling east. The pedestrian was seriously injured, and was transported by WFD rescue to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

Warwick Police ask anyone who witnessed the accident to contact the Warwick Police Traffic Division at 401-468-4293.
