WARWICK, RI — Officer Aaron Steere was driving north on Rte. 95 April 4 at 12:50  a.m.when he spotted a silver 2006 Jeep with Florida dealer/transporter plate and an RI inspection sticker, stopped it and arrested the passenger and driver for possession of a stolen plate.

Steere approached the Jeep from the passenger’s side and identified the driver, Dominic Ballou, 24, and the passenger, Alexia Mosca, 21, both of them from of 815 Sandy Lane, Apt. 31.

The woman told Steere she was supposed to return the plate to their owner, which Steere determined was Rocco’s Auto Sales of Sarasota, Fl. He also determined that the plates were reported stolen with the Cranston Police Department on March 16.

The plate was seized, and Steere arrested Mosca and Ballou, charging each with receiving stolen goods.

Steere also charged Ballou with possession of marijuana, less than an ounce.

The Jeep was towed from the scene and Ballou and Mosca were held at Warwick Police Headquarters, 99 Veterans Memorial Drive, for the next session of district court.
