WARWICK, RI — On Oct. 2, Officer Alejandro Martinez stopped and arrested the driver of a blue Toyota Camry on Cowesett Road, noting its darkened plate was registered to a man wanted by North Providence Police for larceny.

Martinez, who had driven close enough to the car to discern the plate through a darkened cover, turned on his cruiser’s lights and pulled the car over at the intersection of Cowesett Road and Hardig Road, according to the officer’s report.

Martinez identified the driver as Darwin Romero M. Tapia, 22, of 131 Congress Ave., Providence, RI,the subject of the warrant for larceny between $1,500 and $5,000. Tapia was unable to provide his registration or insurance information, according to the report.

Martinez arrested Tapia and transported him to Warwick Police Headquarters, 99 Veterans Memorial Drive, where he was processed and held until North Providence Police arrived to take custody of him.
