Oakland Beach Woman Charged in Death of Girl

[CREDIT: WDP] Warwick Police arrested Michelle Rothgeb, 55, of Oakland Beach on a count of “cruelty to, or neglect of child”, in the Jan. 3, 2019 death of a 9-year-old girl she was the guardian of.

WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police arrested a 55-year-old Oakland Beach woman Sunday on a count of “cruelty to, or neglect of child”, in the Jan. 3 death of a 9-year-old girl.

Michelle Rothgeb, the guardian of the girl, was taken into custody at her home, l405 Oakland Beach Ave, at 930 a.m. Sunday, Warwick Police reported. Rothgeb was held at the Warwick Police Department overnight and was scheduled to be transported to Third District Court Monday morning.

Warwick Police Detectives, along with the Department of Children, Youth and Families, investigated the circumstances surrounding the girl’s during the last 10 days, resulting in the arrest, according to the report.

The investigation is continuing, according to Warwick Police.
