WARWICK, RI — Officer Russell Brown was called to 1800 Post Road Jan. 4 at 12:38 p.m. for a report of a car struck by a moped, after which the rider entered the H&R Block office nearby.
As the man left the scene of the crash, he asked the driver of the car not to call police, the woman told Brown, according to the officer’s report.
Brown entered the H&R Block building the woman indicated, and found the moped driver speaking with an employee. He identified the man as Arthur Bruckshaw, 55, of 30 Fallon St., Providence. Brown also discovered that Bruckshaw had an outstanding bench warrant for his arrest out of Third District Court, according to Brown’s report.
Bruckshaw told Brown he had an appointment at the tax preparer, which is why he went inside the building after the crash, according to the report.
Brown arrested Bruckshaw and transported him to Warwick Police Headquarters, 99 Veterans Memorial Drive. Warwick, where he was turned over to sheriffs.
Bruckshaw’s moped was towed by Shea’s Towing.
