WARWICK, RI — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory starting at 4 p.m. this afternoon, when ice, 35 mph winds and about two inches of snow is expected to dominate the afternoon commute.

The advisory remains in effect for portions of southeastern Massachusetts and northern and southern Rhode Island from 4 p.m. Thursday till 1 a.m. Friday.

The National Weather Service advises travellers to plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute. Expect slippery roads and limited visibility, and use caution while driving.

A flood warning is also in effect for the Pawtuxet River, affecting Kent and Providence Counties, and the Pawcatuck River affecting New London and Washington Counties. The NWS advises parents not to allow children to play near swollen rivers, streams or culverts. Swiftly moving water can pose an imminent threat to life.

The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 511.
