Warwick, RI – Voters will consider eight challengers for posts in City government during the Nov. 4 election, including in the Mayor’s office, on the Council and the School Committee.

Mayor Scott Avedisian will face Democrat John T. Kirby and Independent Kevin C. Eisenman in the Nov. 4 elections.

While Kirby is well known to voters as a routinely unsuccessful mayoral hopeful, Eisenman’s independent run at the office adds a new element to the 2014 mayoral contest, though the Warwick Beacon reports Eisenman also made a run at the mayor’s office 20 years ago.

In City Council Ward 1, incumbent Republican Steven A. Colantuono and Democrat Patrick E. Maloney Jr. face off.

In City Council Ward 3, incumbent Democrat Camille Vella Wilkinson faces Republican  John Falkowski.

City Council Ward 8 voters will decide between incumbent Democrat Joseph Galluci to and Republican Luelyn M. Jennings.

The remainder of the City Council incumbents run unopposed.

This year’s ballot also includes two school committee contests, with incumbent Eugene Nadeau and challenger Dean Johnson running in Dist. 1, and Stephen Pope challenging Vice Chair Terri Medeiros in Dist. 2.

Bethany Furtado runs unopposed in Dist. 3.
