WARWICK, RI — When manager at the Post Road Rent-A-Center called Ahceal Harris, 23, of 42 Prospect St., Cranston, about phones he’d stopped paying for, he said, “You’re not going to catch me,” but North Smithfield Police did Feb. 1.
On Oct. 25, 2019, Officer Thomas Greene was called to the 1800 Post Road store and spoke with the manager, who told him that Harris had rented two Galaxy S10 phones, worth $828.84 and $757.83, respectively, and only paid the first payment of $96.74, but no further payments, according to the officer’s report.
The manager told Greene that when she called Harris to let him know he either had to pay for the phones or return them, he told her, “Good luck. You’re not going to catch me,” according to the report.
Nonetheless, Greene prepared an arrest warrant for Harris, charging him with one count of Sale or Concealment of Leased Property.
On Feb. 1, Warwick officers visited Smithfield Police to collect Harris, whom had been arrested on the warrant.
Harris was arraigned on Feb. 3, and scheduled for a court screening on May 4 in Third District Court.
