Cranston, R.I. — Cranston Police Chief Col. Michael J. Winquist announced Friday that a CPD-led prostitution sting had resulted in the arrests of 17 people, including a Providence woman for prostitution and human trafficking of a 16-year-old girl, and four Warwick men for soliciting sex.Â
The sting combined the efforts of Homeland Secrurity, the FBI, State Police, Cranston, Providence, Seekonk, Narragansett, and East Providence police, according to Winquist.
On Monday, March 7 and Thursday, March 10, the team of detectives and agents set up at a Cranston location. The operation targeted individuals exploiting juvenile and adult victims via the Internet for purposes of human trafficking and prostitution, according to Cranston Police.
Among the arrests was Yuleysi Garcia, 21, of 166 Standwood St., Providence, charged with one count of prostitution and one count of human trafficking. Police reported Garcia’s human trafficking victim was a 16-year-old girl.
Police also arrested four Warwick men, charging them with procuring sex for money:
Jamie McNeill, 38, of 111 Cindy Lane, Warwick, was charged with one count of procurement of sexual conduct for a fee. He was arraigned and released.
Gary Hathaway, 41, of 188 Pinnery Ave., Warwick, was charged with one count of procurement of sexual conduct for a fee. He was arraigned and released.
Peter Fidas, 42, of 221 Parkside Drive, Warwick, was charged with one count of procurement of sexual conduct for a fee. He was arraigned and released.
Jason Marrocco, 33, of 305 Greenwich Ave., Warwick, was charged with one count of procurement of sexual conduct for a fee. He was arraigned and released.
