DUI Arrest Follows Sept. 12 Bald Hill Road Crash

WARWICK, RI — On Sept. 12 at 2 a.m., Officer Jake Reddy was called to the underpass of Centerville Road on Bald Hill Road for a crash, finding a gray 2005 Mazda with heavy front end damage, making a DUI arrest.

Reddy identified the driver as Enrinque Alvarez, 23, of 22 Summit Ave., FL, Apt. 2, West Warwick, and noted the driver had two open beers in the car, one in the center console cupholder and another on the floor of the passenger’s front side.

When asked if he’d been drinking, Alvarez told Reddy he’d bee at the Trap, 195 Old Forge Road, where he had four mixed whiskey drinks. He said his last had been about an hour prior to the stop, according to the officer’s report.

Alvarez agreed to take sobriety tests, during which he demonstrated a lack of smooth pursuit and involuntary movement in his vision. was unable to walk heel-to toe consistently in a line, and put his foot down and hopped while attempting a one-leg stand.

Reddy arrested Alvarez and transported him to Warwick Police Headquarters, 99 Veterans Memorial Drive, where he registered a .166 and .147 on successive blood alcohol breath tests.

WPD released Alvarez at 4:15 a.m. to the custody of a sober adult, with a summons to appear in Third District Court on the charge.
