Council to Hear Library Director, Consider Replacement Garbage Trucks

 Warwick City Hall.
Warwick City Hall.

Warwick, RI – The Warwick City Council will hear a presentation from Warwick Public Library Director Christopher LaRoux before considering resolutions ensuring companies are in good standing before submitting bids, crediting tax payments by postmark and replacing five garbage trucks lost to fire.

Originally, the docket included a request for one new garbage truck. Last week, DPW Chief David Picozzi said he’d request five trucks instead of the original docket request for one, due to a fire that destroyed five of the departments garbage trucks April 6.

Also on the docket is a resolution establishing that a business must be in good standing with the city before submitting bids to the Council.

Another measure will establish that payments of taxes received by mail will be credited to a taxpayer’s account as of the date of the postmark on the envelope.

The Council will also discuss expanding the City Centre zoning districts, re-illuminating city street lights, and reviewing Warwick’s federal flood map.
