Conimicut Point Beach Closed, High Bacteria Count

Water quality analysis at local beaches is conducted by the State Health Laboratory or a state certified laboratory. The information is used to determine a closed beaches.

The RI Department of Health has closed Conimicut Point and Newport Beaches for high bacteria counts.

Warwick, RI – The RI Department of Health has closed Conimicut Point Beach and King Park Beach in Newport due to a high bacteria count.

The Department posted a news release and tweet announcing the closures Thursday afternoon.

Officials report the beaches are unsuitable for swimming, and they will continue monitoring water quality so they can notify the public once the areas are safe for swimming again.
