WARWICK, RI — On Saturday, 9 a.m., the Boys & Girls Clubs of Warwick’s Oakland Beach branch will give backpacks and school supplies to any student attending a Warwick school.

The distribution at the 340 Oakland Beach Ave. location will run till 11 a.m. The first 634 families who visit will be given age appropriate backpacks and various supplies including notebooks, pens, pencils and more. Any Warwick student is eligible to receive supplies.

HarborOne Bank, the Warwick Police Department and an anonymous donor are teaming up with the BGCW to distribute the backpacks and supplies.

“We are very excited and thankful that community-minded companies and the Warwick PD are helping Warwick students and their families at a time of year that can be expensive and stressful,” said BGCW CEO Lara D’Antuono. “With the National Retail Federation estimating families will need to spend an average of nearly $60 per child more than last year on back-to-school items, this generosity couldn’t come at a better time.”
