WEST GREENWICH, RI —RI State Police are investigating an evening WW track bus crash with an Aetna Bridge Company stake body truck Monday at 8:55 p.m. on Rte. 95 at Rte. 102, injuring seven including the bus driver and four West Warwick High Co-Ed Track Team students.
Four students, the bus driver, and the three occupants of the truck were transported to Kent County Hospital with minor injuries. State Police have cited the Aetna Bridge truck driver for a Right of Way violation.
According to State Police, the First Student school bus carrying forty-one 41 members of the track team was traveling on Rte. 95 as an Aetna Bridge Company stake body truck towing a portable arrow board for a RIDOT construction detail pulled in front of them from the center median.
The Aetna Bridge truck exited the center median in front of the approaching school bus and was driving across the highway to enter the breakdown lane. The operator of the bus swerved to the left and struck the towed arrow board, dislodging it from the truck.
