
WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police negotiators persuaded a 38-year-old man to surrender peacefully during Monday’s Tiffany Avenue standoff, arresting him at 4:48 p.m.
Jonathan Leamy, 38, of 215 Tiffany Ave., will be arraigned this morning in Third Division District Court, at the Kent County Courthouse on charges of possession of a firearm after having been convicted of a crime of violence and domestic disorderly conduct.
Tiffany Avenue Standoff call, response
At 1:38 p.m. Monday, Warwick Police responded to 215 Tiffany Ave. for a report of a man who had been involved in a domestic disturbance. Warwick Police identified the man as Leamy, who lives at the address.
When police arrived, officers determined that Leamy was in the home alone, barricaded with a shotgun. A perimeter was established around the home and negotiations began with Leamy until he surrendered without incident at 4:48 p.m.
ABC 6 reported several cruisers blocking Tiffany Avenue and officers with rifles during the negotiation.
“The situation has been resolved, the suspect surrendered and no one was harmed. Another great job by the Warwick Police Department,” said Mayor Frank Picozzi on his Twitter Account at 5:39 p.m. Monday.
