WPD Talks Man in Mental Crisis Into Kent Hospital Visit

WARWICK, RI — Early this morning Warwick Police aiding Pawtucket Police found a Pawtucket man in mental crisis at Extended Stay America on Metro Center Boulevard, taking him to Kent Hospital after four hours of negotiation.

The 47-year-old exited his hotel room voluntarily, according to Warwick Police. After, Warwick Police found a handgun in plain view in the hotel room. An investigation into the man’s possession of the gun is in progress, according to a statement on the incident.

“The Warwick Police Department and Pawtucket Police Department have collaborated throughout the duration of this call and will continue to do so throughout the remainder of this investigation,” Warwick Police said in the statement.

No criminal charges are currently pending against the man.
