WARWICK, RI — Warwick Police, notified by a Flock traffic security camera that a stolen truck, a U-Haul, was headed north on Post Road near Rte. 37, intercepted the driver at 4:25 p.m., charging him with driving a vehicle without consent of owner.

The U-Haul, a 2022 Chevy E350, registered in Arizona, was reported stolen by Pawtucket Police, according to Warwick Police. Officer Keara Enos reported spotting the stolen truck on Post Road near Atlantic Avenue, stopping it with the aid of Officer Michael Bailey, detaining three men who were in the truck.

According to Enos’s report, the stolen truck driver was identified as Michael Martinez, 32, of 924 Lilac Lane, Dover, NH. He told Enos he didn’t know who the truck was rented to, and that they had been headed from a casino in Connecticut to Pawtucket.

One of the passengers said the truck had been rented to a friend, Liz, but there was no record of anyone with that name associated with the rental, according to the report. Enos charged Martinez with driving a vehicle without consent of the owner or lesee.

P&P Towing was called to take the U-Haul from the road. The other two men were later released from the site of the stop with no charges.
